Celestus – rodzaj jaszczurek z rodziny Diploglossidae.

Zasięg występowania

Rodzaj obejmuje gatunki występujące w Meksyku, Gwatemali, Belize, na Jamajce, wyspie Navassa, Haiti i okolicznych wyspach, Kajmanach, w Kostaryce oraz Panamie^[5].

Celestus: J.E. Gray nie wyjaśnił etymologii nazwy rodzajowej^[2].
Siderolamprus: gr. σιδηρος sidēros „wyrób z żelaza, zbroja”^[6]; λαμπρος lampros „błyszczący, świecący”^[7]. Gatunek typowy: Siderolamprus enneagrammus Cope, 1861.
Panolopus : gr. παν pan „cały”^[8]; λοπος lopos „łuska”^[9]. Gatunek typowy: Panolopus costatus Cope, 1862.
