Przedstawiciele rodzaju kędzierzawka krucha Tortella fragilis i kędzierzawka żółtozielona Tortella flavovirens są od 2004 roku objęte w Polsce ochroną gatunkową, początkowo ścisłą, a od 2014 r. częściową[6].
