W sezonie 1925/26 odbyła się 51. edycja Pucharu Anglii i zarazem pierwsza, która rozegrana została według nowego formatu[1]. Drużyny z First i Second Division, przystąpiły do rozgrywek w 3. rundzie.

Zwycięzcą tej edycji został Bolton Wanderers, który pokonał w finale na Wembley Manchester City 1:0. Jedyną bramkę w tym meczu zdobył David Jack.

W każdej rundzie mecze, poza półfinałami i finałem, odbywały się na stadionie drużyny wylosowanej na pierwszym miejscu w parze. Spotkania rozgrywano w soboty lub w dni powszednie. W przypadku wyniku remisowego rozgrywano mecz powtórkowy na stadionie drużyny wylosowanej na drugim miejscu w parze. Po 90 minutach powtórki zarządzano dogrywkę; jeśli i ona nie przyniosła rozstrzygnięcia rozgrywano kolejne powtórki na neutralnym stadionie do momentu wyłonienia zwycięzcy.

Pierwsza runda

Do pierwszej rundy przystąpiło 40 drużyn z Third Divison North i Third Division South, a także 25 spoza Football League, które przeszły przez kwalifikacje. Cztery trzecioligowe kluby (Millwall, Bristol City, Crystal Palace i Plymouth Argyle) dostały wolny los i zaczęły turniej od 3. rundy, zaś cztery zespoły z Second Division, Barnsley, Darlington, Oldham Athletic i Swansea Town wystartowało w 1. rundzie. Aby uzyskać wymaganą liczbę 76 drużyn, dokooptowano kolejnych siedem; były to: Clapton, St. Albans City, London Caledonians, West Stanley, Northfleet United, Dulwich Hamlet, Southall.
