Carrie Marie Underwood (ur. 10 marca 1983 w Muskogee[1]) − amerykańska wokalistka country wykonująca także muzykę popularną. Pochodzi z Checotah w stanie Oklahoma. Stała się znana po wygraniu czwartej edycji amerykańskiego Idola. Jej albumy i single pokrywały się nierzadko wielokrotną platyną, a sama artystka kilka razy została wyróżniona nagrodą Grammy.
Życiorys
Dorastała na farmie rodziców, Stephena i Carole Underwood. Ma dwie starsze siostry, Shannę i Stephanie. W dzieciństwie Carrie zagrała w Robbins Memorial Talent Show. Śpiewała też w chórze kościelnym. Związana z protestanckim kościołem do dzisiaj wykonuje muzykę chrześcijańską[2].
W 2001 zakończyła szkołę średnią w Checotah. Rozpoczęła studia w Northeastern University State w Tahlequah, gdzie skończyła z wyróżnieniem (magna laude) studia licencjackie na kierunku: komunikacja masowa i naciski w dziennikarstwie. Uczestniczyła też w licznych konkursach piękności, a w 2004 zajęła 2. miejsce w konkursie Miss NSU.
Aktualnie Carrie mieszka we Franklin, na przedmieściach Nashville w stanie Tennessee. Na przesłuchania do American Idol trafiła latem 2004. Już w drugim etapie przesłuchań była faworytką i wróżono jej wygraną w tej edycji. 25 maja 2005 Carrie wygrała 4 edycję American Idol. 15 listopada wydała swoją debiutancka płytę Some Hearts. Za album zgarnęła liczne nagrody, a najważniejsze z nich są dwie statuetki Grammy zdobyte w 2007 i jedna w 2008. Drugi album, zatytułowany Carnival Ride, ukazał się 23 października 2007. Trzeci album Play On ukazał się 3 listopada 2009.

Underwood jest żoną kanadyjskiego hokeisty Mike'a Fishera. Para poznała się podczas jej koncertu w Ottawie w 2008 roku. W 2009 roku zaręczyli się[3]. 10 lipca 2010 odbył się ich ślub w Greensboro w Georgii[4]. Para ma dwójkę dzieci: Isiah Michael urodzony w 2015 roku[5] i Jacob Bryan urodzony w 2019 roku[6].
