Dubai Women’s Sevens 2012 – pierwsza edycja wchodzącego w skład IRB Women’s Sevens World Series turnieju Dubai Women’s Sevens przeznaczonego dla żeńskich reprezentacji narodowych w rugby 7. Odbyła się wraz z turniejem męskim w dniach 30 listopada – 1 grudnia 2012 roku na The Sevens w Dubaju będąc pierwszym turniejem sezonu 2012/2013.

Pierwsze oficjalne międzynarodowe zawody pod egidą IRB w Dubaju odbyły się rok wcześniej w ramach IRB Women’s Sevens Challenge Cup.

Informacje ogólne

Rozegrane na The Sevens zawody były pierwszym turniejem inauguracyjnego sezonu IRB Women’s Sevens World Series[1]. Wzięło w nich udział dwanaście reprezentacji – sześciu stałych uczestników cyklu oraz sześć zespołów, które zostały zaproszone na podstawie osiągniętych wyników w regionalnych turniejach[2][3]. Podział na grupy oraz rozkład gier zostały opublikowane przez IRB na początku listopada 2012 roku[4]. Drużyny rywalizowały w pierwszym dniu systemem kołowym podzielone na trzy czterozespołowe grupy, po czym w drugim dniu osiem najlepszych awansowało do ćwierćfinałów, a pozostałe cztery zmierzyły się w walce o Bowl[5].

Sędziowie zawodów zostali ogłoszeni 15 listopada 2012 roku[6], natomiast składy drużyn na dzień przed rozpoczęciem zawodów[7][8].

W pierwszym dniu jedynie Australia zanotowała komplet zwycięstw, w pozostałych grupach niespodziewanie na czele znalazły się Południowoafrykanki oraz Rosjanki[9][10]. W turnieju zwyciężyła Nowa Zelandia[11], a najwięcej przyłożeń – siedem – w zawodach zdobyła Australijka Emilee Cherry, zostając jednocześnie najlepiej punktującą zawodniczką[12][13].
